How to forward calls on Comcast Business Voice
Forward a Comcast Business Voice line: every call (*72), only unanswered calls (*92), or only calls while you're busy (*90). How to turn each on, off, and test it.
Updated 5 min read
Short answer
On a Comcast Business Voice line, dial *72 and then a 10-digit number to forward every call, *92 to forward only the calls nobody answers, or *90 to forward only the calls that come in while you're on the phone. Turn them off with *73, *93 and *91. You can also set all three in My Account, under Phone › Features › Call Forwarding.
Before you start
You need the 10-digit number you want your calls to go to (an answering service, a cell phone, or your Nacho number), plus either a phone on your Comcast line or a login to Comcast Business My Account.
These steps are for Comcast Business Voice, which Comcast now sells as Voice Mobility, and for Business VoiceEdge. The codes are the same on both. Comcast Business Mobile phones, and phone systems connected through SIP trunks or PRI lines, are set up differently.

|---|---|
| Forward every call | *72 + number |
| Stop forwarding every call | *73 |

Forward every call
- Pick up a phone on your Comcast line and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial
*72. You'll hear a quick stutter tone, then a normal dial tone. - Dial the 10-digit number you want your calls to go to.
- Stay on the line until that number answers. Forwarding turns on once the call is picked up.
- If nobody picks up, hang up and dial
*72again within two minutes. The second try turns forwarding on even if no one answers.
Online instead: sign in to My Account, open the menu at the top left, choose Phone, expand Features and select Call Forwarding. Under Call Forwarding Always, select Edit, enter the number and Save it, then switch the toggle on. Comcast asks for the number to be saved before a forwarding option is turned on.
In the Comcast Business app: open the menu at the top left, choose My Phone, then Call Forwarding. On Business Voice, the app's calling features need a Mobility line.
Forward only the calls nobody answers
- Pick up a phone on your Comcast line and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial
*92. - When you hear the second dial tone, dial the 10-digit number.
- Listen for the confirmation tone. That means it's on.
To choose how many times your phones ring first, use My Account. On the Call Forwarding page, set up Call Forwarding No Answer and pick a value from Number of rings before forwarding. Comcast doesn't publish the list of allowed values, so use what your screen offers.
Forward only when your line is busy
- Pick up a phone on your Comcast line and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial
*90. - When you hear the second dial tone, dial the 10-digit number.
- Listen for the confirmation tone. That means it's on.
Comcast counts the line as busy while you're talking on it: calls that come in during a call are forwarded. Busy forwarding isn't available on phones in a hunt group.
Turn forwarding off
Pick up a phone on the line and dial the off code for the option you turned on: *73 for every call, *93 for unanswered calls, or *91 for busy calls. After *93 or *91, wait for the confirmation tone. After *73, just hang up. Your calls go back to ringing your business line.
Test it
Comcast doesn't publish an official test, so here's the simplest check. Use a cell phone, not another line on the same account.
- Every call: call your restaurant's number. It should ring straight through to the other number.
- Unanswered calls: call and let it ring without picking up. After the rings you chose, the call should move to the other number.
- Busy: call while someone is on the restaurant line. The second call should go to the other number.
If it doesn't work
- Forwarding every call didn't turn on: the other number has to answer your
*72call, or you have to dial*72again within two minutes. - Unanswered or busy calls aren't forwarding: check whether your phones are in a hunt group. Comcast says busy forwarding isn't available on hunt-group phones, and not to turn on unanswered forwarding on them.
- You don't see Features in My Account: Comcast has two screen layouts. Look for Users & Lines, open the three-dot menu on your line, select Manage, then the Call Forwarding tab.
- You can't change settings online: Comcast's newer Business Voice portal isn't open to the Service User and Billing Manager roles. Sign in as the account's administrator.
- A website told you to dial
*71: some sites list it for no-answer forwarding, but Comcast's own code is*92.
Using this with Nacho
Nacho gives your restaurant a local number that answers calls, takes orders, and answers questions. The Phone page in your Nacho dashboard shows that number and asks how calls should reach Nacho: Every call, Only missed calls, or Only when the line is busy. Those match the three Comcast options above: *72, *92 and *90.
When you turn on forwarding every call, Nacho answers the *72 call, so forwarding switches on. Then use Test your setup on the Phone page: call your restaurant from your cell phone and you should hear Nacho answer. Check that the call on your Nacho Calls page shows your cell number; Comcast's help pages don't say which number a forwarded call shows.
Want calls answered while you're busy?
Nacho answers your restaurant's calls, takes orders with prices from your own menu, and speaks English, Spanish and French. Enter your number and Nacho will call you, so you can order something and hear for yourself.
